Bird & Babe supports and nourishes mothers on a soulful journey of transformation.
Background
Jessica Lipps is a PhD candidate in Education at Simon Fraser University and holds a Masters in Christian Studies from Regent College in Vancouver, BC. She is the creator of the Good Mourning Journal — a guided grief journal inspired by her research in grief, arts-based ways of knowing, and what it means to be human. Jessica is also a part of Rivendell Community — a modern monastic community located on Bowen Island, BC, where she helps to host and guide retreatants on their spiritual retreats. Finally, she is a board member for a Mennonite community that is building an intentional 100-student resident community, market-rate apartments, and a Centre for Peace on the campus of University of British Columbia. As full-time mother during the first six years of her son’s life and now a “working mom,” she understands the needs that women — and particularly, mothers — face during rich and turbulent seasons.
Her contemplative engagement and research in embodiment, trauma, and mother-to-child ways of knowing inspire her journey, and she is thrilled to be of service to other women in need of breath, space, and fresh air. She desires to offer “1 hour retreats” for the woman on a soulful journey of change — even if she doesn’t know where to start. She particularly enjoys supporting mothers desiring deeper connection with their children, themselves, and with the Divine.
